MISSISSAUGA, on – Walmart Canada will spend $ 175 million to renovate its stores across the country and to improve integration between the physical locations and e-commerce.
The company plans to renovate 23 stores by February 2019, which is expected to create more than 2500 jobs in the construction sector.
In addition to renovating the physical appearance of the stores, Walmart is planning to make changes to boost its e-commerce activities, such as the addition of parking spaces reserved for pick-up orders of groceries or new sections in stores dedicated to online orders.
These renovations come at a time when Walmart is trying to improve its online business, in particular in relation to the grocery store.
The company has started offering delivery of groceries in less than an hour in some areas of Toronto and Winnipeg, in partnership with Instacart. It also gave more scope to his pickup grocery.
Walmart Canada has more than 400 stores across Canada.
