Sloane Stephens will face off in the final, Simona Halep, champion of the edition 2016 of the Rogers Cup.
The American Sloane Stephens qualified for the final of the Rogers Cup women’s tennis by eliminating the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the defending champion, in two sets of 6-3, 6-3 in 1 hour and 38 minutes on Saturday night on the centre court of the stadium IGA.
As she had done in her three previous matches in singles, Stephens is imposed from the start by winning the first four games of the round initial against the fifth racket of the world.
Svitolina has recovered one of these breaks while Stephens served for the first round at 5-2. However, it has lost its service soon after, following a setback in open handed which has resulted in the corridor of the double.

In the final Sunday, Stephens, 3rd top of the range, will the Romanian Simona Halep, world number one, who easily took the measure of the aussie Ashleigh Barty 6-4, 6-1 in the afternoon.
This will be the ninth clash between Halep and Stephens, and the second this year. Stephens will have the opportunity to avenge the failure that she suffered in the final of the Internationaux de France, in June.
Halep had won a first title in Grand Slam career with a victory 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. This was the only clash between the two players who need the three sleeves.
Halep, who has six wins against Stephens, has won its last five duels in the face of the American of 25 years and the last three duels on hard surface.
Halep will begin her fifth final in 2018 and Stephens, in his third.
