Russian and French painter Oscar Rabin died in Italy on 91-m to year of life, writes TASS.
According to the official representative of the master Mark Ivasilevich, the artist died in anticipation of the opening of his exhibition in the Russian Academy of arts in Florence. Rabin arrived in the city of Corsica, where he presented the exhibition, on which he worked 40 years.
It is noted that shortly before his death, the artist underwent surgery. Despite health problems, he was full of creative energy.
“The other day I saw Oscar Yakovlevich. Nothing boded trouble. This is a huge loss for Russia and for France,” said Vasilevich.
Place of burial will be the cemetery of Pere-Lachaise in Paris. Date of farewell has not yet been appointed.
Rabin repeatedly stated that is a Russian artist, though he painted in France. According to him, in the paintings can be “seen Russia.”
Rabin was born in Moscow. The artist was one of those who founded the Lianozovsky school. After organized the exhibition in 1978 in Bitsa Park was stripped of his Soviet citizenship.
