East Village band releases new album that highlights the talents of all three members

“I was friends with Julie when I went to see them perform,” recollects D’Agostino. “I was just smiling the whole time!  They were so powerful but fun and loose too. It was really artistic and emotional.” Jaffe and Hair later invited her to play on a quantity and it labored out so properly that she by no means left. “Nikki’s sax adds a whole other dimension to the band,” says Jaffe.

“These women are so creatively inspiring,” muses Jaffe. “It’s hard to be doing something that’s different from everyone else, but it’s empowering.”


All three members produce other tasks going – Julie is in the Isolation Society, Marnie in Reside Cranium and Nikki with the Artwork Grey Noizz Quintet, Vestments, And the Wiremen and Ohm Slice, however FeMaLe GeNiuS appears like it could be the most private. “Our own experiences are going into these songs,” explains Hair. “We’ve chosen to do something that is more personal and feminine. What we’re trying to do is give people something that they might not know that they need or want but leaves them fulfilled.”


Some issues have modified for Hair since she first picked up a drum machine in the scrappy early days of 3TK4 – a pioneering post-punk experiment that didn’t simply match into any established style – and a few issues have stayed the similar.
