President Petro Poroshenko will sign the law “On termination of the Agreement on friendship, cooperation and partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation” on Monday, December 10.
He said this while participating in the solemn meeting on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the society “Prosvita” during his working visit to Lviv region, informs a press-service of the head of the country.
The President also plans to sign a law according to which the fighters for independence of Ukraine in XX century, will be given the status of combatants.
“Of course, there is a certain symbolism in the termination, at last, the Treaty on the so-called friendship with Russia. The relevant law I have submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, he was voted the day before yesterday and on Monday I will sign. This is a historic event. As well as the withdrawal from the CIS”, – said Poroshenko.
He also recalled that in recent years Ukraine conducted mass decommunization “the Demolition of monuments to Lenin in Ukraine” and the ban on the Communist party, which is responsible for the famine, the Great terror, denationalization, and many other crimes.
“A few years ago, on my initiative, finally, at the state level, we recognized the army of the UPR and UPA as participants of the national liberation struggle. And yesterday the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill according to which the fighters for independence of Ukraine in XX century, has official, public status of combatants at the level of those heroes who now protect the country from Russian aggression,” the President said, adding that four years ago it was hard to imagine that this can be done so quickly.
“You understand that I will not be the case, and the law I will sign as soon as it will come to me from the Parliament. Immediately”, – assured the head of state.
