On the Dnieper TPP launched another unit, which operates in the Ukrainian fuel. These changes allow us not only to abandon the import of anthracite, but also significantly reduce emissions.
The campaign to put units on domestic raw materials was launched in April of 2017, when the disruptions in the supply of anthracite with non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. During this time the company has upgraded 2 units. In November 2018 Prydniprovska TPP, has launched an updated unit No. 9, but next in line – a unit No. 10, which will be included in the network by the end of the year.
Now Pridneprovskaya TPP has three unit coal-fired gas brands, while another, the standby unit can run on anthracite.
“There was a time when TPP was idle for lack of raw materials, and now the problem is completely solved. It proves that the plan to diversify the supply of coal, started a year ago working. We reduce the need for imported coal. Only a year of work on coal gas we have saved about 700 thousand tons of imported coal, so kept the budget. In addition, we had the opportunity to work with Ukrainian contractors”, – explained the Director of the Energy DTEK Dmitry Sakharuk.
Sergey Degtyarenko, Director of the Dnieper TPP, said that coal, which is necessary for the operation of the enterprise, is located in Pavlohrad, but because the supply of raw materials is not more than a day. This allows not only to halve the cost of transporting coal, but excludes the plant closure: “Previously, we kept a stock of raw materials required for 30 days of work, but now does not need it. There are other benefits. For example, burning coal to gas marks a significantly more efficient combustion of anthracite”.
Efficiency gas brands is not the only benefit. So, according to Dmitry Sakharuk, thermal power plants supplied less sulphurous coal, which gives the opportunity to reduce emissions of sulphur into the atmosphere.
Now in the active stage preparing to launch a Ukrainian coal-fired generating unit 10, thus there’s now built a new precipitator to reduce dust emissions to European standards.
“New filter protects the atmosphere from emissions of 99.99%. If we talk about specific numbers, then the total work 4 modern power units will reduce emissions by 12.5 thousand tons”, – said Sergey Degtyarenko.
The filters that appear on the power units of thermal power plants applied modern technologies, which correspond to European standards. Their design was thought out system that allows you to dispose of residual ash. Build electrostatic precipitator specialists from Zaporozhye.
“Our company has already established more than 10 filters at the stations of Ukraine. This technology is most efficient and allows to make the production virtually waste-free. in the design of electrostatic precipitators applied to all technologies which are known in the European market in the former Soviet Union, adapted to our operational capabilities”, – said the head of Satap Andrey Teslenko.
According to Dmitry Sakharuk, all the works are now being conducted on the station, will positively affect not only the region but the country as a whole.
“Ukrainian coal is the key to a stable energy supply of Ukraine. Accordingly, the more we focus on the fuel that is mined in Ukraine, the better for the state and its residents. Thus, this year we will complete the translation of anthracite on coal gas four blocks Pridneprovskaya TPP with a total capacity of 600 MW,” – said Dmytro Sakharuk.
