Both drivers Force India have not passed the final qualification in Brazil, with Esteban Windows will have to start from last position due to a penalty for changing the gearbox. However, the team believe that the race should be competitive, so do not leave hope to earn points.
Sergio Perez (12th): “a Difficult session, and I have quite a bit to go to the finals of qualification. A difficult weekend for us: I lost a lot of time on the track, where every hundredth.
The truth is, we are not as fast as expected, but can win with good play in the race. There were many problems at the start of qualifying, had to use an additional set of tyres to pass the second part. In the end I only had one set of firmed rubber at the end of the session when the track condition has improved, so I did not add.
I think our pace is better than we showed in qualifying, and if a good start will have the chance to compete for points. An important role may be played by the weather, so on Sunday we will try to catch up in qualifying”.
Esteban Windows (13th): “Not the best qualified. For various reasons we didn’t work out. Between training and qualification we have changed the settings and it did not give the expected gain in speed. In the end the car was not so good. Before the session I thought we have the potential to qualify for the finals session, but nothing happened.
In addition, I will have to serve a penalty, so I’m going to start towards the end of the peloton, and this will further complicate the race. Perhaps Sunday will be rain – it would play for me: would help to close the gap and compete for points”.
Othmar, Szafnauer, team principal: “the Whole weekend we were a little behind, because Sergio a little worked on the track, and we changed the settings on the machine Esteban. Because of these problems we are unable to complete the final qualification, because here such a short range that a couple of tenths of seconds there are several positions on the starting grid. Let’s see what happens in the race. I think in the race we can be more competitive, and we have the potential to make points.”
