RACING.RU, 9 Dec 2018 – What’s interesting to us, the Russians, David Leonov finished the weekend at 9-th position in the Protocol series, consistently finishing in the very difficult prestige class, where a year earlier, barely reached the points zone!
Showing a good lap time, David went straight to the final, started at the end of qualifying, with 11 seats. In three races finished 8-8-11.
David Leonov: “Fought in all three races. Incidentally, in the first after the start I jumped on the wheel and I went past, catching up with the whole race. The route this year is interesting, fast and complex, especially when the logs appear to track. I feel much more confident, because before the race was able to practice a little, and Husqvarna for me more familiar. Brother told how and where to go, but in General my brother is comfortable to ride the race. Still a fast rider and knows how to cheer up and tune…
In General, satisfied with the beginning of the season, very pleased that once again the food on the Husqvarna motorcycle, I’m familiar and very fast!”
You know who was a mentor and mechanic of David this time? The elder brother, the reigning champion of Russia on a Superbike and supermoto Vladimir Leonov. As noted by David, brother to race ride is a pleasure: he is a fast rider and knows how to cheer up and tune. However, Vladimir already and he is thinking, not to try out a new discipline!
Vladimir Leonov: ” overall, a great race, interesting track, a lot of viewers. In Poland it is always a good atmosphere, it is nice to be. David – well done, pleased. Tried, it is seen that over the summer have grown up, but still not enough training on difficult items. Need to do more challenging trails for training.
Time in the race was good, but with one burst of tires, which we did not win, lost the second, we were pushed further from the five leaders. We will prepare for the next race. I hope, we will alter the route in St. Petersburg (only indoor track for Enduro) to make it more complex and loaded.
Looking at all this, I thought it would be interesting also to try to go a couple of rounds of the European championship. But first you need, of course, a little practice and see what and how.”
