The organization of the fake “elections” in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass testifies to the reluctance of Russia to peacefully resolve the situation in the East of Ukraine. This was stated by the press service of the Ministry temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons November 10.
The Ministry recalled that the elections in the Donbas must be held subject to the Ukrainian legislation, OSCE standards and ensure maximum transparency in the process.
But contrary to the Minsk agreements and the resolutions of the UN Security Council, on 11 November was appointed “elections”, which “already known”.
“The holding of such “elections” casts doubt on General, direct and equal vote of the people. The armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine began in April 2014. Fighting underway between the Armed forces of Ukraine and Pro-Russian rebels who control part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
After the murder in the occupied Donetsk leader of the “DNR” Alexander Zakharchenko militants announced the intention to hold “elections,” 11 November 2018. The Ukrainian party has condemned the idea, saying that the “elections” in the occupied Donbass contradict the Minsk agreements.
30 October 2018 before the meeting of the Council’s eight member countries of the European Union, the UN urged Russia to stop preparing for the illegal elections in the occupied part of Donbass.
The Russian side said at a meeting of the trilateral contact group in Minsk on 6 November that it intends to recognize the results of the “elections” in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, said the first Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s representative to the Humanities subgroup of the contact group Irina Gerashchenko.
EU high representative for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini said that the European Union condemns the intention of the militants Donbass to hold “elections” on November 11.
